Helping UK businesses attract more customers through practical social media marketing.

Dana Grochowska, social media manager for trades businesses

A few years ago, someone close to me started their own trades business. They were brilliant at what they did, the kind of person whose clients always came back, always recommended them to friends. But online? Nothing. No posts, no presence, nothing showing the quality of what they were doing.

I tried to help. I'd sit with them in the evening after a long day on site, trying to put a post together, figure out captions, trying to work out what was even worth photographing. And every time, I watched the same thing happen - they were too tired, too busy, and honestly, too unsure of themselves to keep it up. Social media kept slipping to the bottom of the list, even though it mattered.

Why I Focus on Trades Businesses

Trades businesses are often overlooked when it comes to marketing. Builders, electricians, plumbers, landscapers, the work is genuinely good, the reviews are good, word of mouth keeps many of them busy for years. But word of mouth only reaches so far, and it says nothing to the stranger scrolling Facebook at 9pm trying to find someone for a job next week. That stranger can only judge what they see. If your page hasn't posted since March, they assume you're either not active or not good enough to be busy, neither of which is true, but neither of which they'll ever find out, because they've already called the next name on the list.

I chose to specialise here rather than take on every industry going, because trades businesses have specific patterns I've learned to work with: seasonal demand, word-of-mouth-first sales cycles, customers who want to see examples of real work before they'll pick up the phone. A generalist agency treats a plumber's page the same way it treats a fashion brand's. I don't.

Why I Started Social Growth Systems

That's where Social Growth Systems really began. Not from a business plan, but from watching someone good at their trade lose out simply because nobody online could see it. I wanted to take that job off their hands, so the people doing the real work could just keep doing it, and let me handle making sure people actually noticed it.

I spent close to four years managing social media for a logistics company before going freelance, learning what genuinely works when it comes to building an audience and turning social media into genuine enquiries, not just likes. Since January 2025, I've also been managing Meta Ads campaigns myself, bringing that same practical approach to paid advertising results. I'm also TQUK Level 2 qualified in Digital Marketing, and Certified in Social Media Management, Marketing Analytics, and Advertising, so alongside understanding what tradespeople need, there's proper training behind everything I do.

I launched Social Growth Systems because I wanted more independence in how I work and who I work with, the chance to build something of my own, with a more personal, hands-on approach than any agency job could offer. I don't have investors to answer to or a sales team pushing packages you don't need. I have clients, and I'd like to keep it that way.

What You Can Expect When We Work Together

You send me photos from the job, phone footage is fine, nothing needs to be professional. I turn that into a month of content: captions written, hashtags researched, a proper posting schedule, all sent to you for approval before anything goes live. Nothing goes live without your approval, and I need a response within 48 hours to keep the schedule on track. That's really all I need from you.

Every month you get a straightforward report: what was posted, how it performed, what I'm adjusting next. No jargon-heavy dashboards you need a translator for. If something isn't working, I'll say so and explain what I'm changing, not bury it under vague positivity.

Why I Don't Work Like a Typical Agency

There's no account manager passing your brief down to a junior who's never spoken to you. There's no rotating team, no handoffs, no "let me check with the team and get back to you." You deal with me, directly, from the first call to the reports I send every month. I read every brief myself. I remember what you told me last time. I write every caption. If I make a mistake, I own it and fix it, I'm not going to pretend it didn't happen.

I also won't promise you numbers I can't back up. I won't tell you exactly how many leads you'll get, because that depends on your pricing, your response time, and your market, things outside my control. What I will tell you honestly is what's working, what isn't, and what I'd change if I were in your position.

A Few Things About Me Outside Work

I'm originally from Poland and I've lived in the UK since 2005, my first ten years in London, and Essex has been home since. Wherever you're based, though, that's no barrier: I work with clients remotely right across the UK. Outside work, I enjoy learning new digital tools and improving the services I offer. Most evenings you'll usually find me working on new ideas, testing AI tools or finding better ways to help my clients save time.

I built this website myself, which sounds simple until you've actually tried to relearn IT skills from years ago while also running a business and raising a family. It's not perfect, and I'm still improving it, but I built it, and that matters to me.

If you're the kind of person who's brilliant at the job but would rather be anywhere else than staring at a phone trying to write a caption, that's exactly who I built this for. I'm patient, I explain things in plain English, and I genuinely don't mind if you've never posted anything before in your life. That's what I'm here for.

If you'd like to see exactly how working together would look for your business, the social media management packages page breaks down what's included at each level, or you can book a free call and I'll talk you through it directly.

Let's talk about your business.
